People! It's so great to announce that with your help we were able to raise € 17.126,-!

As in the two previous years, the Cappuccino Club Charity Calendar 2011 turned out to be a huge success! Thanks to sponsors, helping hands and buying friends we were able to raise the incredible amount of 17.126 Euro.
The money was sent to Kyrgyzstan, one of the most remote and forgotten corners of this world. In cooperation with HelpAge International, our partner on the ground, we distributed the money among 40 so-called Self Help Groups, who then in turn invested the money, their time and energy to create income-generating microprojects. Be it textile workshops, sheep breeding or a greenhouse, all projects have an immediate impact on the ground and are designed to bring about a sustainable improvement of their every day's life.

Der CC-Kalender 2011 ging wieder mal weg wie warme Semmeln und dank treuer Sponsoren , Helfer und Kunden konnte so ein Reinerlös von unglaublichen € 17.126,- erzielt werden. Das gesamte Geld wurde fein säuberlich verschnürt und nach Kirgistan verschickt, einem ziemlich vergessenen und weit vom globalen Jetset entfernten Eck dieser Erde. Dort wurde es mit Hilfe unseres Partners HelpAge International an vierzig Selbsthilfegruppen verteilt – ursprünglich wurde das Projekt für 20 Gruppen à 500 Euro ausgelegt, aufgrund des tollen Erfolges konnten jedoch weitere 20 Gruppen mit je 356,3 Euro unterstützt werden.

Das Geld wurde sehr gezielt für so genannte „income-generating micro projects“ eingesetzt. Die Gruppen entschieden selbst, je nach Bedürfnissen und lokalen Gegebenheiten, in was sie die Summe investieren möchten – unter einer Bedingung: das Ganze muss nachhaltige und längerfristige Wirkung zeigen. Eine große Party oder ein Stapel Brennholz war also nicht drin.

Manche entschieden sich für die Ausstattung von Werkstätten, um hochwertige Textilarbeiten herzustellen, die dann auf längere Sicht die Gemeinschaft mit Einkommen versorgt.

Andere wiederum hatten Grund und Boden, aber nichts, was davon frisst und entschieden sich für den Beginn einer Schaf- und Ziegenzucht, die in den meisten Fällen schon erhebliche Herden hat entstehen lassen.

Und in manchen Orten entschieden sich die Menschen dafür, ein Gewächshaus zu errichten, damit der Frühling dort schon ein wenig früher beginnt und der Sommer ein wenig später endet und so die Menschen länger frischen Gemüse auf dem Tisch und dem Marktstand haben.

Alles in allem haben die Projekte Leben und Aktivität an Orte zurückgebracht, wo Armut und Elend das meiste davon bereits zu ersticken drohte. Manchmal braucht es eben nur die eine kleine Chance, den einen kleinen Anstoß, um wieder vorwärts zu kommen. Dank des CC-Kalenders wurde dieser Anstoß für vierzig Gruppen in einem krisengebeutelten und bitterarmen Land geleistet, und er trägt nicht nur Früchte, sondern auch Schafe, Gemüse, Wolldecken, ...
Der Dank kam einfach, aber aufrichtig: “We are so happy that in Austria the country that we have never heard about are people that want to help us! May they live long life!”

Once again it was an outstanding symbiosis of contemporary art and sports photography, this time with the ultimate aim of helping out poor people in Kyrgyzstan. The money already got transfered. Soon we will get the pictures to inform you about the details ...

The Release party made people dance on Friday, December 3rd, at the Weekender Club in Innsbruck. Doors opened at 21:00, the tombola and an amazing DJ Crew (DJ Chrisfader, Wax Wreckaz & Ironshirt Soundsystem) made people happy and dance! More than 100 calendars could be sold! Thanks for the support!

In November, the calendar has been assembled by motivated Cappuccino-Club-members, friends and with the extraordinary help of Hanno and the whole Tortenwerkstatt-Crew - THANK YOU GUYS, you are amazing.

Thanks to your help and the help of our sponsors, 100% of the profits earned from selling this calendar will support people in Kyrgyzstan.
This year we are collaborating with HelpAge International (www.helpage.org), a renowned international NGO and their local partner organisations.

The money will be divided amongst 20 different groups: ten in the south and ten in the north of Kyrgyzstan. Since the middle of 2010, selected groups have already begun discussing potential projects. Instead of paper pushers sitting at a desk in the West trying to make decision about how best to help people, local groups will decide what they need the most. In this way, the people affected most will manage the projects and bear the responsibility for seeing them through. They alone will decide if the money is to be best spent on sheep farming, maintenance of public buildings, or the construction of a green house.

In order to ensure that the donated money is used carefully and sustainably, partner groups have been selected and put together with great care. They haven’t been randomly selected for this project but have existed already quite some time. Groups constantly receive training and education through our partner organisations which have their own funding for such purposes. Group leaders are always trustworthy people with a lot of life experience. They are people who are highly acknowledged in their villages and in most of the cases, they are older women. The entire collaboration with these groups is controlled and evaluated according to EU-norms, the strictest in the field of development aid.
